Another Fun Talkie Tea Time event.
Seventeen Ascension Church parishioners helped out in one way or another to ensure our 62 guests had a great time. Our church hall was full and Speaker Terry Bolland astonished us all with tales of his paddling feats and great photos. We raised $663 to go to the ABMs Emergency relief fund and $405.50 by the Cake and Baked Goods Stall, which will go towards our Church ceiling repair costs.
THANK YOU TO OUR HOSPITALITY TEAM
These people who provide morning tea after church make a very special contribution to our community life - THANK YOU!
The Hospitality Team got together on Saturday 18th January for a “Thank You” celebration. They also spent time discussing the ministry of hospitality including some key principles:
Hospitality reflects the gospel. Service and love for others is the bedrock of the Christian life.
Hospitality puts our faith in visible action. It provides evidence of our belief in the dignity of each God-loved person.
We practice hospitality by sharing our resources and our needs, by serving as both host and guest, as Jesus did when he walked this earth. You are either giving, or you are receiving.
Hospitality requires unity, inclusiveness, respect.
It counters loneliness and the sin of neglect.
Hospitality is expensive. It takes of our time and resources. It involves sacrifice, but it should not deplete us.
Hospitality is good for children. It is wonderful role-modelling for the young to be treated as guests and to be encouraged to be hosts.

Meditation at Midland
Bishop Hans Christiansen joined us for our regular Tuesday Afternoon meditation at Ascension. The day was both deep and joyous as many of the regular Zoom Meditators (Wednesdays at 5pm) joined us in person, some of them meeting each other ‘in the flesh’ for the first time.
If you would like to know more about meditation or join us go here.
