Spirituality

Spiritual experience is at the heart of the Christian tradition. All that we do within our church and broader community is focused on unfolding and developing a spiritual relationship with God. In the Christian tradition this relationship is found and deepened within community and on our own, through meditation, prayer, social engagement, scriptural reflections and the liturgy of the church.

At Ascension Connection we hold weekly meditation classes in person (Tuesdays at 12.30pm) and on Zoom (Wednesdays at 5.30pm). Through regular meditation practice, we learn to know who we really are and drop the noisy ‘monkey-mind’ and impedes us from our relationship with God.

Our weekly liturgy includes periods of contemplation and quiet to open, as a group and as individual people, to the stillness within, as preparation for meeting God in the Eucharist of bread and wine. There are regular teachings and guidance on the meaning of the liturgy and how we can participate within it, so it becomes a deep and meaningful spiritual experience.

We also hold regular shared learning groups and courses on scriptures and the broader Christian spiritual tradition.
